Just discovered my new favorite designer, Ashish Gupta, from London. Reasons why I’m in love:
1) He uses sequins in EVERY collection, even though sequins are hard to work with, and he’s able to use them for each collection without being repetitive.
2) In his 2012 Summer/Spring Collection, which Vouge called playful and romantic, he had sequined floral prints and combat boots.
3) In his 2012 Fall/Winter Collection, he had sequined oversized tops with smiley faces, and girls in hijabs. Yeah, I checked in my closet to see if Mr. Gupta was in there, so on point were the outfits. To make things even better, he called this collection Bollywouldn’t.
4) An Ashish girl is described as: She likes her tie-dye - in knitted formation - and she likes her shirts long and lingering at the back. She’ll wear a hoodie just as much as she will a sequin sheath gown and she’ll add some yin-yang motifs into the mix too. She’s a bit of a festival fiend and a bit hippy-dippy but she knows how to have fun.
5) He loves American Pop Culture (we’re going to have the best chai chitchats)
Match made in heaven. You guys seriously have no idea how obsessed I’m becoming with this man.
